Well, at the very least, this apparent move (reported in a CNet article) by Dell certainly leaves one asking a lot of questions…

  • Maybe users don’t have powerful enough hardware to run Vista the way they want to?
  • Maybe users’ applications don’t currently work on Vista?
  • Maybe companies aren’t prepared to do some end-user retraining on Windows Vista?
  • Maybe there really isn’t as much WoW as the marketing implies?

At any rate… I’ll just remind you (and hope you remind your friends and colleagues) that there really is a viable alternative… Linux on the desktop.  Naturally, we think SLED is a great fit for many of you.  🙂
