Got an obscure printer?  I do at home.  It’s a low-end Canon multi-function ink-jet printer (copy, scan, print combo device).  I think it actually came free with something I bought in the past.  I wanted to get it working with my Linux desktop, but there were no drivers for it that came with SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop, and the manufacturer doesn’t officially support Linux as a client OS.

But I have a secret weapon…  LinuxPrinting.org  The site worked great for me (yet again)!

Use their database engine to search for your specific printer by manufacturer and model and you’ll be taken to a page which tells you the recommended printer driver, how functional the print driver is, instructions on how to install it, and of course links to the driver itself.
